It's called Broadband Proactive Alerts, and it's available across the UK now

TalkTalk has rolled out a free upgrade to millions of broadband users across the UK. Dubbed Broadband Proactive Alerts, the system will warn about headaches with your internet connection before anything goes offline.

You don't need to download a software update, activate anything in your TalkTalk account, or upgrade to a new Wi-Fi router — the free service is already live for existing subscribers with a full-fibre connection.

TalkTalk's innovative new tool can detect network issues in your area. If something goes awry — you'll be sent an alerts immediately to warn about an issue somewhere in the network, often before you've even noticed a problem with your connection.

Switch to EE full-fibre broadband and pay £0 for the first 3 months

For a limited time, EE is offering free broadband for the first 3 months of your contract. Available on speedy full-fibre packages, like EE Full Fibre 300 and the all-singing, all-dancing Made For Gamers package with the new Wi-Fi 7 hub and 1.6Gbps download speeds. If you're not outside of your current contract, EE will contribute up to £300 towards early exit fees

Launched during Stress Awareness Month, the service aims to tackle the frustration of unexpected outages that disrupt daily life. When something isn't right, TalkTalk's new tool offers real-time tracking, keeping you in about the progress of any fixes.

This means there's no need to wait in the queue to speak to customer service to find out whether they're aware of the issue and when you can expect to see broadband restored at your address.

The clever system works by monitoring Openreach's fibre-to-cabinet network for disruptions in your area. This comprehensive approach gives you greater control over your broadband experience, removing the uncertainty that often accompanies connectivity issues, TalkTalk reassures.

The impact of tech disruptions on daily life is significant, with half of Brits wasting up to two days annually troubleshooting tech issues at home. According to research by the broadband firm, almost 7 in 10 (67%) consider broadband outages a major inconvenience, with Millennials feeling the impact most acutely (75%).

For 45% of all Britons, technology issues ruin their days.

Leigh Halliwell, Head of Service Assurance at TalkTalk, said: "Our research shows that tech troubles and broadband disruptions are a major cause of everyday stress.

"Brits have been crying out for much-needed tech and life admin support at home – with one-third even admitting it’s something they’d pay for. We’re continuously innovating to deliver a service that not only meets our customers’ needs but also empowers them to get the most out of their connection.

"This is why we’re happy to give households across the nation one less thing to worry about, solving tech-mares through our new Broadband Proactive Alerts service.

"It minimises stress for our customers by making them aware of nearby network issues quickly after they occur, removing uncertainty and giving much-needed reassurance and support."
