At GB News, we recognise the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance our news delivery and operations.

We are exploring AI applications in several areas including, for example:

  1. AI-Generated Sports and Travel Bulletins: We are introducing AI-generated sports and travel news updates on our radio station, using virtual voice technology.
  2. Content Enhancement: We are investigating ways to use AI to support and enhance our existing content for wider appeal.
  3. Operational Efficiency: We are exploring AI tools to streamline our internal processes and improve productivity.

This policy outlines our approach to responsibly integrating AI technologies whilst upholding our commitment to quality journalism and audience trust.

Compliance and Editorial Standards

All AI applications at GB News must adhere to our Editorial Charter and core values of accuracy, impartiality, and fairness.

Human Editorial Control

All AI-assisted editorial content will be overseen by GB News editors and only published/broadcast when fully approved by senior staff, in line with our Editorial Charter and other relevant policies.

Accountability and Transparency

GB News is committed to full accountability regarding our use of AI. Experienced editing staff are responsible for the publication of all of our output, including any which has been assisted using artificial intelligence. Where AI has been used in a substantial way for broadcast content we will include a verbal or visual disclosure, as appropriate to the medium, to enhance transparency.

As AI technology evolves, we will review and update this policy to ensure it reflects a responsible use of AI, in accordance with the GB News Editorial Charter.

Implementation

All GB News departments and team members are expected to adhere to this policy when considering or implementing AI solutions, whether involving generative AI or other tools and solutions to improve productivity.
