Nigel Farage has slammed the Government as a “complete shower” amid the announcement that Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak have been issued fines over Partygate.
In a video posted to Twitter, the former Brexit Party leader said: “So, the Prime Minister has been fined for breaches of lockdown holding parties in his home No.10 Downing Street.
“The Chancellor has also been fined and he is teetotal. That must really hurt him."
He captioned the video with the statement: “This Government is a complete shower."
Carrie Johnson, Mr Johnson's wife, has also been fined as part of the police probe.
No.10 said in a statement: “The Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Exchequer have today received notification that the Metropolitan police intend to issue them with fixed penalty notices.

"We have no further details, but we will update you again when we do.”
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has since called on both Mr Johnson and Mr Sunak to resign.
Sir Keir said: “Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak have broken the law and repeatedly lied to the British public. They must both resign.
“The Conservatives are totally unfit to govern. Britain deserves better.”
It comes after the Metropolitan Police announced 30 additional fines on Tuesday in relation to Operation Hillman, which is looking into breaches of Covid-19 regulations at the top of Government.
The force said it was “making every effort to progress this investigation at speed”, with the possibility of more fines to come.
The identities of other people issued with FPNs have not been disclosed publicly by the Met, nor the event a fine relates to.
Mr Johnson is understood to have been present at six of the at least 12 events being investigated.
Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has also called for Mr Johnson's resignation.
She wrote: "Boris Johnson must resign. He broke the law and repeatedly lied to Parliament about it.
“The basic values of integrity and decency – essential to the proper working of any parliamentary democracy – demand that he go.
“And he should take his out of touch chancellor with him.”
Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey tweeted: “This is a government in crisis neglecting a country in crisis.
“Parliament must be recalled for a vote of No Confidence in the Prime Minister.”
And Mayor of London Sadiq Khan added: “A Prime Minister who breaks the laws his Government makes and then lies about it isn’t fit for office.
“Families made huge sacrifices and obeyed the law. Many said their last goodbyes to loved ones on the phone while the Prime Minister partied.
“Boris Johnson must resign.”
