Elon Musk has issued a stark warning about the capabilities of AI (Artificial Intelligence) during a talk with Rishi Sunak.
The Prime Minister spoke to the tech billionaire after the UK Government’s AI safety summit, where he said the technology could bring a future involving humanoid robots that can “chase you anywhere”.
He told Rishi Sunak that jobs may not be “needed” in the future given the potential it bestows.
Speaking about robots, Musk stressed the importance of having an off-switch.

“A humanoid robot can basically chase you anywhere”, he said in the talk.
“It’s something we should be quite concerned about. If a robot can follow you anywhere, what if they get a software update one day, and they’re not so friendly any more?”

Musk praised the UK, saying the country is in a “strong position” on developing robots.
The SpaceX founder had particular praise for Dyson.
The Tesla boss had shared a cartoon image on his social media platform, X, formerly known as Twitter, appearing to mock world leaders attending the gathering.
A cartoon suggested world leaders are more concerned about developing the technology than its safety.
The two-day gathering saw world leaders including US Vice President Kamala Harris descend on Britain as Rishi Sunak bids to pit the UK as a world leader on the technology’s future.
At a press conference concluding the event, Sunak said the summit would “tip the balance in favour of humanity” after reaching an agreement with technology firms to check models before release.
Speaking on Musk’s participation in the discussion, Sunak commented: “Elon Musk is someone who has for a long time spoken about AI.
“I am delighted that he was attending and participating yesterday.”
Musk also had praise for Sunak’s decision to invite Chinese representation to the conference, hailing it as “essential”.
Musk further predicted a world where nobody would need to work, suggesting there would be a “universal high income”.
“You can have a job if you want to have a job”, he said.
“But the AI will be able to do everything. I don’t know if that makes people comfortable or uncomfortable”.
