The R&A is considering an early start for the third round of this month's Open Championship at Royal Portrush to avoid disruption from a loyalist parade scheduled for the same evening.
More than 60 bands and 2,000 participants are expected to march through the town's streets on Saturday week, creating potential chaos as thousands of golf spectators attempt to leave the sold-out venue.
The timing presents a significant logistical challenge, with the parade set to begin just 15 minutes after the round would typically conclude, raising concerns about severe congestion and safety issues for departing fans.
The third round would ordinarily finish at 8pm BST, with the parade due to commence at 8.15pm, leaving virtually no buffer between the two events.

The R&A has been concerned for some time about the logistical challenges, with officials worried that significant congestion could develop as spectators leave the course.
There are also fears that thousands might choose to depart early to avoid the anticipated chaos.

The situation became more complicated after it was reported last month that the Portrush Sons of Ulster, who organise the parade, voted against rearranging their march following a request from the R&A.
The R&A has confirmed it is working on solutions, though it would not comment specifically on its preparations.
A spokesman for the R&A said: "We are working on plans to minimise disruption for our fans leaving the championship due to the event taking place in Portrush on the Saturday evening."
It is understood that tee times will be adjusted, though the extent of any changes remains uncertain due to live American television coverage requirements.
The time change is therefore unlikely to be substantial but any alteration would still be notable.
R&A officials had previously promised to "explore potential mitigations to ensure fans can get home smoothly following the end of play".

The clash comes as standard adult tickets for round three cost in excess of £120, adding to concerns about spectator experience at what will be the biggest sporting event to take place in Northern Ireland.
The 153rd staging of the Open runs from 17-20 July and represents a major showcase for the region, making the timing conflict particularly unfortunate.
The Portrush Sons of Ulster's refusal to reschedule their parade despite the R&A's request has left golf's governing body with limited options, forcing them to consider adjusting their own schedule to accommodate the traditional loyalist march through the town.
