Britons have been told to check their bathrooms, as an electric toothbrush charger found in UK homes has been deemed unsafe for use.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has issued a recall for the HYC3757A charger base sold via TikTok. The product presents "a serious risk of fire" due to faulty internal components.
The OPSS investigation found the charger has "loose internal connections" that could overheat and ignite.
The plug bears incorrect markings showing 13A whilst containing only a 3A fuse.
TikTok has taken swift action to ensure customer safety by removing the dangerous listing from its platform.
Meanwhile, Britons who have already purchased the product have been told to "stop using it immediately" and instead, contact the TikTok seller for redress.
The OPSS emphasised that anyone who owns the toothbrush charger should disconnect it from the main supply without delay.
To identify the faulty product, shoppers should note it carries barcode 911014169366 and model number HYC3757A, though some listings showed it as 3757. It also bears the additional identifier C1049697-1001533.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Due to its serious fire risk, the white charging base fails to meet requirements under the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016. It also breaches the Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994.
The recall was initiated after Local Authority Trading Standards raised concerns about the product's safety, triggering the official recall notice 2506-0153.
Product and food recalls should always be taken seriously to ensure customer safety.

Last week, Tesco shoppers were told to check their kitchens as salmonella contamination was confirmed in a popular snack.
Symptoms caused by Salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea, and abdominal cramps.
The supermarket told shoppers: "If you've bought an affected product, please don't eat it.
"Instead, return it to a Tesco store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required," the supermarket said."
Similarly, a popular ice cream sold in Sainsbury's and more was recalled due to allergy concerns.
