A unique form of therapy could transform your locks, according to one hair enthusiast

There are several ways to combat hair loss or help your hair regrow if you feel your locks are lacklustre.

From hair oils to extra vitamins to simple lifestyle changes, there's something for everyone to try out on the high street.

However, one method that is often overlooked due to its costly nature has been cited as a way to accelerate "insane" regrowth.

TikToker Sarah Palmyra (who goes by @sarahpalmyra on the sharing platform) divulged her secret after revealing she "most likely" has telogen effluvium, a type of temporary hair loss caused by stress.

After trying hair growth serums as well as vitamins to make up for deficiencies and feed new regrowth, Sarah admitted that her most effective tip may impact your bank balance.

Joking about the price of her secret, she said: "I have some unfortunate news that no one really wants to hear. Sadly, the regrowth I have experienced from my LED helmet — which is the most expensive thing that I have tried to regrow my hair — has been insane."

Although the product can be costly, the gadget is incredibly easy to use. All you need to do is place the helmet on your head for 10 minutes each day before bed, or whenever suits your schedule.

"The good news is that if you're lazy like me, it's a dream because the thing that you need to know about hair growth is it doesn't happen without consistency," she raved.

Sarah explained how she became tired of "having to schedule wash days around how greasy her hair was getting from all of the hair oils" and how "annoying" it was to sanitise her rollers.

"It was just really hard, annoying, and time-consuming," she said. "Whereas, with this, I just stick it on my head for 10 minutes and that's it. And then I go to bed and I don't even worry about it.

"Or you can just do it while answering emails — it's just truly so easy,” she added, lauding how simple it is to use every day.

Red light is deployed for several health and beauty purposes to harness photobiomodulation (the use of light to alter biology).

Scientific studies have found that red light can thinly penetrate the skin, stimulating follicle growth. The light can cause vasodilation, which is the expansion of blood vessels, explained experts at Stanford University.

Additionally, those who try out red light therapy shouldn't expect it to work overnight. Hair experts at Harley Street Hair Clinic said that the most successful cases were patients who went through 60 sessions at home.

They added that the method was of an "ongoing effort against hair thinning", recommending at-home treatment between three and five times each week.

"We know some hair products, such as topical minoxidil, harness that to stimulate hair growth," clinical professor of dermatology Zakia Rahman explained. "The dilation of blood vessels enables more blood and nutrients to reach the hair follicles.

"Used over multiple months consistently, red light has been shown to regrow thinning hair. But it should also be noted: when the person stops applying red light, the effects stop."

Every red light device has its own potency, system and effects, as well as an extreme range of prices from under £50 to more than £800.

Before embarking on any new treatment, it is always best to consult your GP or an equivalent medical professional to ensure that this is the best pathway for your specific case.
