The King and the Princess of Wales are staying in the same hospital in London

Queen Camilla accompanied King Charles to hospital this morning in a move dubbed as “very unusual.”

King Charles arrived at the London Clinic ahead of his prostate operation today after travelling from his home in Norfolk to London last night.

Usually, members of the Royal Family go in for operations alone, but this morning King Charles’s wife, Queen Camilla, accompanied the King to the hospital.

ITV’s Royal Editor Chris Ship wrote on Twitter/X: “Queen Camilla has gone into hospital with King Charles.

“Whilst this might seem normal for most families, it is very unusual for the Royal Family to accompany their spouse like this (the late Queen and Prince Philip went into hospital on their own).”

This shows another way that the King is taking on a more modern approach to health procedures within the Royal Family.

King Charles also gave details of his medical treatment in order to encourage other men to get checked for signs of prostate problems.

The King was admitted to The London Clinic, which is the same hospital as Princess Kate is recovering from her abdominal operation.

The Palace stated: “The King was this morning admitted to a London hospital for scheduled treatment.

“His Majesty would like to thank all those who have sent their good wishes over the past week and is delighted to learn that his diagnosis is having a positive impact on public health awareness.”

The King was seen leaving Clarence House this morning and arrived at the hospital around 9am.

Following the King’s announcement, there was a surge in men researching signs of prostate cancer.

According to NHS England, the “enlarged prostate” page on their website received 26,170 visits in 48 hours compared to a daily average of 1,400.

Buckingham Palace's statement about King's condition read: “In common with thousands of men each year, The King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate.

"His Majesty's condition is benign and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure.

"The King’s public engagements will be postponed for a short period of recuperation."
