Queen Camilla visited her husband in hospital today

King Charles is "doing well" after his successful prostate operation at The London Clinic, it has been confirmed.

Buckingham Palace announced the King had been diagnosed with an enlarged prostate last Wednesday, and the monarch has now received corrective surgery.

The Palace added that King Charles's condition was benign, and that the monarch wanted to encourage other men to get medically checked.

The statement read: "In common with thousands of men each year, The King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate.

"The King’s public engagements will be postponed for a short period of recuperation."

Queen Camilla accompanied her husband to the hospital today.

She departed The London Clinic six hours after arriving, and told onlookers: "He's fine, thank you".

Queen Camilla has stepped out on a few engagements this past week where she frequently gave updates on her husband's health.

For example, last Thursday, the Queen was asked by a well-wisher about how King Charles was doing the day after his diagnosis was announced.

Camilla replied: “He’s fine, thank you very much. Looking forward to getting back to work.”

Later, on Monday whilst out on an engagement in Swindon, she told royal fans that the King was “fine” as he awaited his operation.
