Celebrity chef Anne Burrell, who died suddenly at the age of 55 this week, had expressed enthusiasm about potentially appearing on Meghan Markle's Netflix cooking show, With Love, Meghan, just two months before her death.

The chef, best known for hosting Worst Cooks in America for 27 seasons, was found unconscious and unresponsive at her Brooklyn home on Tuesday morning.

In an April interview, the Food Network star was asked if she would be interested in cooking with the Duchess of Sussex on her lifestyle series.

"Sure, of course. I'd go to the opening of an envelope," Burrell responded.

"Why not cook with Meghan?" She mused while speaking with the Daily Mail.

Despite her willingness to appear on the show, Burrell admitted she wasn't particularly keen on Markle's famous jam from her As Ever lifestyle brand.

"I'm not really a jam girl," the chef told the Daily Mail.

"Occasionally, I make them for my husband. I make scones and we have jam then. Other than that, I wouldn't say I'm super jammy."

The first series of With Love, Meghan featured celebrity chefs including Roy Choi and Alice Waters.

Netflix confirmed in March that the show had been renewed for a second series, which has already been filmed and will feature appearances from Chrissy Teigen and José Andrés.

It comes as Meghan recently revealed Netflix had assigned 80 staff members to work on her lifestyle programme while she operated with what she calls a "small and mighty team".

The revelation emerged during her appearance on the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast on June 17.

The Duchess of Sussex explained that partnering with Netflix elevated her business ventures to "a completely different level".

She explained that, unlike other partnerships, her arrangement with Netflix required developing the brand "as we are going" rather than working with an established concept.

The significant difference in team sizes between the streaming service and Meghan's own office has prompted speculation about which party holds greater influence over the programme's direction.

Anne Burrell's family confirmed the celebrity chef's death in a statement, describing her as a "beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend".

They added: "Anne's light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal."

The Food Network remembered Burrell as "a remarkable person and culinary talent" who was "always sharing the importance of food in her life and the joy that a delicious meal can bring".

Chef Tyler Florence, who co-hosted Worst Cooks in America with Burrell, called her "a legendary chef and an even better friend" who "lit up every room she walked into".

He recalled: "I'll never forget when our daughter Dorothy told me Anne was her favourite chef, we always got a kick out of that."

Just hours before her death, Burrell performed at an improv comedy show at The Second City New York in Brooklyn on Monday night, where attendees said she "was in great spirits".
