'If at all possible, stay calm. Have a cup of tea and let it sink in,' the mystery winner has been told

A EuroMillions player has become £208million richer after winning Tuesday night's record-breaking jackpot, but still has yet to claim the staggering nine-figure prize.

The winning ticket, purchased at a shop in Ireland's Munster provice, matched all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars to secure the largest jackpot in the game's history.

The Irish National Lottery confirmed the location of the winning ticket on Wednesday, revealing online that the life-changing ticket was sold in Munster.

But lottery officials have said that by Thursday morning, the winner had still not come forward to claim their fortune.

The winning numbers drawn were 13, 22, 23, 44 and 49, with lucky stars three and five.

National Lottery spokeswoman Emma Monaghan told RTE Radio: "Someone in Ireland is a quarter of a billion euros richer this morning."

She confirmed the ticket for the "eye-watering prize" was bought in a shop.

"If at all possible, stay calm. I know that might be easier said than done. Have a cup of tea and let it sink in," Monaghan told the yet-to-be-identified winner.

The jackpot had reached its maximum cap of €250million on June 6 after rolling over multiple times.

This marks Ireland's 18th EuroMillions jackpot win and eclipses the previous record of £195million won by a UK ticket-holder in July 2022.

Ireland's last EuroMillions jackpot winner claimed €30.9million in February 2022 with a "quick pick" ticket purchased at a service station in Ballina, County Tipperary.

And this week's lucky ticket-holder is on course to be richer than a host of celebrities including Adele and Anthony Joshua - both worth some £195million - and Dua Lipa, valued at £115million.

More than 92,000 players in Ireland won prizes in Tuesday's EuroMillions and Plus games.

The winner's fortune would be enough to buy out Brazilian footballer Neymar, who was sold to Paris Saint-Germain by Barcelona for a world-record €222million in 2017.

However, the mystery multi-millionaire could today purchase a $200million Caribbean estate on private island Mustique, or all the top three most expensive properties in London on real estate website Rightmove - with cash to spare.

On the other side of the Irish Sea, recent UK EuroMillions successes include an anonymous winner claiming £177million last November, and another mystery £83million jackpot in January.

Joe and Jess Thwaite from Gloucester remain the record winners to have named themselves, winning £184million in May 2022, but the UK record still stands at £195million in July 2022.

The National Lottery expects to release additional details about Ireland's newest multi-millionaire in the coming days.
