Pick up the brand new sweet treats now at Asda stores across the UK

Asda shoppers have been left reeling after the supermarket announced a major shake-up to a much-loved biscuit brand.

Fox's Burton's Companies has recreated its iconic Party Rings biscuits but in a new shape for the first time in 42 years.

The beloved iced shortcake treats now come in fish-shaped "Under the Sea Minis" - a far-flung design from the traditional ring shape.

Fans have gone wild for the "cute" and "adorable" new shapes on social media, with hundreds flocking online to share their excitement.

The new Under The Sea Minis offer the same nostalgic sweet taste that Party Rings fans have enjoyed for decades.

Shoppers can purchase the fish-shaped treats in packs of six mini bags for just £1.50, making them perfect for lunchboxes or on-the-go snacking.

Despite the shape change, the company has maintained the distinctive iced coating and flavour profile that made the original rings so popular in the first place.

Social media users have been enthusiastically sharing the news, with comments like, "OMG we have to get them", "I actually need these" and "You better get me several packs", with another sharing that their friend would be "buzzing" to hear the news.

Others described the products as "cute" and "adorable", while one fan simply exclaimed: "Hell yeah!"

Parents have particularly noted their potential for children's celebrations, with one commenting: "We need these for any future parties".

The launch has even fuelled debate between the die-hard fans, with one questioning: "But they're not rings though?!"

Commenting on the launch, marketing controller of Party Rings Davina Valetti said: "Under the Sea Minis is an exciting milestone for the Party Rings brand. It's not every day you change something that's been loved for over 40 years, but we think people are going to be pleased what we've done."

She added: "We're still bringing the party, just with a fun new twist."
