In the most trying of circumstances, he has done the Queen proud in Jamaica.

It was never going to be enough, was it?

No matter how sincere, genuine and historic Prince William's comments were on Britain’s colonial past and the Crown’s shameful slave trade pre-1833 during his visit to Jamaica, the country’s political elite, who have been doing everything they can to humiliate the second in line to the throne, were not going to be appeased.

First, there was this snub to Kate by a Jamaican political leader the moment the Duchess of Cambridge stepped off the plane.

Then there was this awkward humiliation by Jamaica’s Prime Minister who ambushed the couple with a highly politicised speech about becoming a republic as they had to lamely listen on and nod.

And there’s the reprehensible Meghan Markle-inspired far left commentators, like her hagiographer Omid Scobie, who tried to claim that this moment where Wills and Kate greeted Jamaican fans who had gathered behind a wire fence to watch a football game was somehow steeped in colonial oppression.

The truly toxic UK arm of the Marxist Black Lives Matter organisation even posted this tweet, saying: “It’s giving human zoo. #RoyalTourCaribbean.”

That’s, of course, complete and utter baloney. There was absolutely no reaction when Raheem Sterling – who the royal couple had invited to the tour – did exactly the same thing.

But the hardcore Jamaican republicans, who are on a campaign for Britain to pay historic reparations, always intended to ambush this visit. It’s just a shame that the race baiters who dominate discussion in 2022 have bought hook, line and sinker into Meghan’s pack of lies to Oprah Winfrey suggesting the modern Royal Family is racist to suit her narrative.

So that was the backdrop of Prince William’s speech in Kingston last night.

He didn’t apologise – he couldn’t and he shouldn’t.

William is a thoroughly modern future king – aware of Britain’s complicated history.

In the most trying of circumstances, he has done the Queen proud in Jamaica.

Sadly, the country’s politicians – aided by the BLM brigade and far left media – have acted disgracefully.
