The songwriter shared a lengthy update on social media

Queen star Brian May has shared a lengthy social media tribute to his wife Anita Dobson as he addressed his absence from social media.

The 76-year-old took to Instagram to speak to his followers and share a sweet snap of himself and his wife of 24 years.

In view of his 3.4million followers, he wrote: "A rare and precious night out in town for these Old Folks On The Hill. At one of our old favourite haunts.

"I know I'm something of a stranger to IG at the moment, dear pals. Apologies. I suppose at times like this, these days I find it takes all my concentration to LIVE life, without trying to Instagram it as well.

"But I'll be back. Meanwhile, I hope you're OK out there, and finding fulfilment. "Sometimes it's the small achievements that keep us going. Right? And how was my day?

"This morning, ever on the trail of improving the lives of Wild Animals we filmed with the amazing @anneatsaveme - a pilot for a potential TV series based on the work of Save-Me and Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue."

The iconic songwriter continued: "And tonight, supporting my amazing Lady Wife, I was lucky enough to see a private preview of the new series of Dr Who - in which Anita's portrayal of the enigmatic Mrs Flood is turning heads.

"I'm very proud of her - and proud of the fact that everybody loves working with her.

"So here, in the picture, we're grabbing a moment at the end of a busy day to enjoy a drink and a bit of supper.

"Then a pretty long drive home, because we're not Londoners any more - we're country folk, and most of our neighbours are wild animals."

Not missing the opportunity to support the Queen star, several fans quickly flooded the comments section of the post with messages.

"No apologies needed dear Bri, I think it’s an important lesson to us all.. to live life, not just post about it. A lovely photo of you both!" one shared.

"BRIAN I LOVE YOUR WIFE," another penned, while a third added: "You’re a busy man, Bri! Got to do what’s best for you.

"We are happy anytime you pop into IG. It’s amazing the pace you keep between all your projects!! I know you’re an inspiration for so many of us. Thank you for all you do for the animals and for us fans!!"
