Dame Deborah James shared a snap at home with her Instagram followers yesterday, joking that she will work her way through every cocktail "before I’m gone!”
Dame Deborah, who is a former headteacher, was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2016 and has since kept her Instagram followers up to date with her treatments and day-to-day life to raise awareness about the signs of bowel cancer.
Taking to Instagram, Deborah shared a photo of a Sex on the Beach cocktail, writing alongside it: “Yes that is Archers! And yes I did grow up as Archers and lemonade being a stable college social drink!
"Today’s ‘sundowner’ treat of Choice! ‘Sex on the Beach!’. Maybe I should just call this working my way through all old school cocktails day by day before I’m gone!”
She has so far raised more than £6.6million for Cancer Research UK, Bowel Cancer UK and the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity through her Bowelbabe fund on JustGiving.
The podcaster is no stranger to a cocktail, earlier in the week she was joined by a brother as the two made Bloody Marys with each other, joking that it felt “like a rocket in a salad!”
Last month, Dame Deborah announced she had written another book, titled How To Live When You Could Be Dead, documenting what she has learned about having a positive mindset when faced with life’s biggest challenges.
Despite not being due to be published until August, the book shot to number one on the Amazon list through pre-orders, with her royalties going towards her Bowelbabe Fund.
She said at the time that she was “blown away” by the response.
The podcast host followed this up by releasing a clothing line with In The Style, with 100 percent of the profits going towards the cancer charity.
