The Germany international is poised to move to Anfield for a huge £116million

Florian Wirtz's parents stand to pocket approximately £8.6million in commission fees after orchestrating their son's British record £116m transfer to Liverpool.

The 22-year-old German midfielder opted to entrust his mother Karin and father Hans with negotiating the blockbuster move rather than employing a traditional football agency.

The deal, which Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen finalised last week, will see the Merseyside club pay an initial £100m with an additional £16m in performance-related add-ons.

Wirtz is scheduled to undergo his medical examination on Friday before signing a five-year contract at Anfield.

The commission payments will be distributed throughout the duration of Wirtz's five-year agreement with the Premier League champions, rather than as a single lump sum payment, according to Bild.

Liverpool's pursuit of the attacking midfielder required persistence, with the club seeing initial offers of approximately £100 m and £110m rejected by the Bundesliga outfit.

The Reds eventually secured their target after meeting Leverkusen's valuation, structuring the deal to include achievable performance-based incentives that could see the total fee reach £116m.

This transfer surpasses the previous British record and represents a significant coup for Liverpool, who have beaten off competition from several European giants to secure Wirtz's signature.

Hans and Karin Wirtz have been working directly on their son's behalf throughout the negotiation process, eschewing the conventional route of professional football agents.

Their efforts in securing the move have proven successful, with the substantial commission reflecting the magnitude of the transfer fee and the complexity of negotiations with Leverkusen.

The German club initially adopted a firm stance when Liverpool first expressed interest in their star player, necessitating multiple rounds of discussions before an agreement could be reached.

According to the German newspaper, the parents' commission totalling around €10m will be paid across the five-year span of Wirtz's Liverpool contract, rewarding their role in facilitating one of football's most expensive transfers.

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

Wirtz will soon reunite with former Bayer Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong, who completed his own £29.5m move to Liverpool earlier this month.

The pair were photographed together on a boat off the Montenegro coast earlier this week, having previously enjoyed considerable success as team-mates in Germany.

Under Xabi Alonso's management, Wirtz and Frimpong secured a domestic double in the 2023-24 season before adding the German Super Cup to their trophy haul.

Whilst Alonso has since departed to manage Real Madrid and Frimpong is adapting to life on Merseyside, Wirtz's imminent arrival will see the duo resume their partnership in Liverpool colours, with his parents' negotiating efforts proving instrumental in making the transfer possible.
