The 38-year-old opened up about the health issue in a new interview

Georgia Jones broke down in tears in her first interview since husband Danny Jones' public cheating scandal as she admitted "I felt like a failure" whilst discussing her battle with postnatal depression.

The 38-year-old wife of McFly star Jones appeared in a pre-recorded segment of This Morning, speaking to hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard about her struggle following the birth of their son Cooper seven years ago.

"I felt like I was failing, really failing at being a mum," Jones said tearfully during the emotional interview.

She explained that she experienced 18 months of struggling in silence before seeking help through therapy, which she described as "the best thing I've ever done."

The appearance marked Georgia's first television interview since her husband's drunken kiss with Love Island star Maura Higgins at a BRITs afterparty in February.

Georgia revealed that the "immense love" she has for Cooper now "wasn't there from the very beginning."

"The hardest part for me, becoming mum, was just that - becoming mum," she explained. "It wasn't that instant gushy 'Oh my God I love my baby so much' and I think because I didn't feel that, I felt so much pressure on myself."

The former Miss England described being "low" and "not the best person to be around" during this period.

"You try and you try, each day you wake up and you're like 'Okay, hopefully I'll feel better today.' And then you don't. Then you're like 'Why? What's wrong with me?'" she said through tears.

Jones noted that whilst she tried to mask her struggles, those closest to her, including her husband, knew she wasn't coping.

The television appearance comes just one day after Jones posted her first picture of Danny on social media since the kissing scandal, sharing a Father's Day tribute on Instagram.

The post, captioned "For the Dads Happy Father's Day", featured a photo of Cooper hugging Danny alongside an image of her own father.

Danny was photographed kissing his I'm A Celebrity co-star Maura at a Universal Records party following the BRIT Awards in March, with reports suggesting they continued drinking together until 6am at Nobu Hotel bar.

The McFly singer subsequently issued a public apology, stating: "I want to deeply apologise to my wife and family for putting them in this situation."

Jones temporarily moved out of their West London home following the incident but has since returned.

She revealed during the interview that Danny "definitely noticed that I wasn't myself".

She went on to add he found it difficult because "he couldn't fix it and he didn't know how to solve the problem."

After 18 months of struggling, she finally reached out for professional help. "I went to therapy and honestly, it was the best thing I've ever done," she said.
