The Princess of Wales has made a notable change

Princess Kate has broken with her own tradition this Father's Day by commissioning a professional photographer rather than capturing the annual family portrait herself.

Kate, 43, typically takes the photographs marking special occasions for the Royal Family.

This year, she enlisted photographer Josh Shinner to document Prince William with their three children for the Father's Day tribute shared on social media on June 15. The decision marks a departure from her established practice of personally photographing family moments.

The move represents a notable change for the Princess, who has become known for her skill behind the camera in capturing intimate family portraits.

The Instagram post featured two outdoor photographs of William, 42, with Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven. One image showed the children sitting beside their father with broad smiles.

The second photograph captured a more playful moment, with the three youngsters tackling the Prince of Wales on the grass amid hugs and laughter. The post's caption read: "Happy Father's Day, Papa. We love you! G, C & L."

The message was signed off with the children's initials and credited photographer Shinner, whose Instagram handle was included in the post.

The photographs drew widespread praise from royal fans on social media. "Beautiful photos. Hope you have a wonderful Father's Day, Your Royal Highness," one admirer commented.

Another fan wrote: "The most beautiful family! So much love." A third observer noted: "The love and warmth this photos radiate!"

The candid nature of the images, showing the Wales family in relaxed outdoor moments, resonated with followers.

The photographs garnered significant attention online, with many commenting on the evident affection between the Prince and his children.

The informal shots marked a departure from more formal royal portraits typically released for such occasions.

The Father's Day tribute coincided with the Royal Family's recent public engagements, including the Trooping the Colour parade earlier in the week. The event officially celebrated King Charles III's 77th birthday, though his actual birthday falls on November 14.

The Princess of Wales and Charlotte coordinated in aquamarine coat dresses for the ceremony, whilst William and the boys appeared alongside the King and Queen Camilla.

Charlotte wore a horseshoe brooch gifted by her late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Prince Louis characteristically entertained crowds with his animated expressions during the parade. The family's appearances together marked a series of high-profile royal engagements this week.
