The King attended the Easier service on Sunday and shook hands with many members of the public

A royal commentator has said that allowing the King to greet well-wishers after attending the Easter Sunday service at Windsor Castle was "concerning".

Charles Rae told GBN America: "I was confused because as I understood it, the doctors had said you can go to the Windsor service. As long as we take certain precautions. There wasn't the same number of people inside the Saint George's Chapel.

"He sat a little bit away from the rest of the congregation, and then he comes out and shakes hands with everybody who's there. I understand that he was desperate to be there because it's a very important event in the royal calendar. I think he wanted to ensure that as many people could see him and get close to him as possible, to show that he is on the road to recovery.

"But I was a bit concerned with all the handshaking and I hope it doesn't come back to bite him on his royal bottom, to be perfectly honest. "
