Kathryn Flett described the couple as being "bonkers" about each other

Harry and Meghan have been compared to socialite family the Kardashians following the release of the couples new Netflix series.

The show which tells the story of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s lives together, as well as their backgrounds, has received much criticism for giving them another platform to potentially attack the Royal Family in what has turned out to be a very difficult year.

The series began with a written statement on a black background saying it is a “first hand account of Harry & Meghan’s story told with never before seen personal archive”.

It said all interviews were finished in August 2022 and “members of the Royal Family declined to comment on the content within this series”.

Speaking on GB News, film critic Kathryn Flett gave praise for the makers of the docuseries, saying “they’ve done a fantastic job” and “as telly, beautifully done.”

However, when going on to speak about the couple’s comments, Ms Flett said “they were very keen to make sure that they had any evidence they might need, it’s a narrative that was almost set up from the start.”

Talking to Bev Turner, the critic said: “You can watch it as TV and think this is a riveting insight into people’s lives.

“There’s stuff here that makes the Kardashians look shy and retiring. It’s just relentless!

“The narrative that this couple has constructed now, what comes across very strongly, and they were very keen to get across, was theirs was a love story.

“My gosh these are two people that are bonkers are about each other. Bonkers might be the key word in a way.”

She added: “I may not have letters after my name, but these are two people whose relationship is as much about need as it is about want. They’re trying to heal each other. There’s a whole load of stuff going on here that psychotherapist would have a field day with.

“In fact that they’re going to make psychotherapists of us all because of the amount of information they’ve given us.

“We’re all entitled to have a fairly informed opinion now.”
