Despite the successful collaboration, there was a slightly awkward moment during Lulu's introduction

Lulu has issued a heartfelt statement after joining Sir Rod Stewart on stage for his Glastonbury performance yesterday.

Stewart commanded the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival on Sunday afternoon, delivering a spectacular performance in the prestigious Legends slot.

The veteran entertainer thrilled the massive crowd with a medley of his greatest hits, including "Maggie May", "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?" and "Sailing".

His 90-minute set featured an impressive lineup of special guests, with appearances from Mick Hucknall, Ronnie Wood and Lulu joining him on stage.

Following the performance, Lulu took to Instagram to express her gratitude for the opportunity to share the iconic stage with Sir Rod.

"Thanx Rod for having me on the Pyramid stage alongside you. I had a total blast! @sirrodstewart @glastofest @ronniewood," she wrote in her post.

The Scottish singer's enthusiastic statement came after her appearance during the Sunday afternoon set, where she performed "Hot Legs" with Rod whilst wearing a dazzling white suit.

Her message also acknowledged fellow guest Ronnie Wood, who had joined them for the special Glastonbury performance.

Despite the successful collaboration, there was a slightly awkward moment during Lulu's introduction.

Rod announced both Ronnie Wood and Lulu, but whilst Ronnie promptly walked onto the stage with his guitar, Lulu was nowhere to be seen.

"Oh Lulu is coming on in a bit," Rod told the crowd after pausing, as Ronnie began playing for the packed Glastonbury audience.

The Scottish singer eventually made her entrance later in the set, joining Rod for their performance together.

The minor timing mishap didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the capacity crowd, who had gathered under soaring temperatures to witness the legendary performer's show.

The performance included a touching tribute to the late Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac, who passed away in November 2022, with her image projected on the big screen for the entire festival to see.

Sir Rod's rendition of "Maggie May" sparked the largest sing-along of the afternoon, despite an apparent early start to the song.

The enthusiastic response from the capacity crowd was so overwhelming that Rod extended his set beyond the scheduled time.

"We have got to get off the stage soon, we are done," he told the audience before launching into his final song "Sailing", finishing approximately five minutes late.

The showstopping set followed an earlier incident on Saturday afternoon, when Stewart was booed during the performance by Irish rap group Kneecap.

During their set, band member Mo Chara took aim at Stewart, saying: "Anybody going to see Rod Stewart tomorrow?" he asked, prompting a few cheers but a majority of boos from the Palestine flag-waving crowd.

"Oh, why the f*** - did I miss something?" Chara sarcastically responded to the boos. " I mean, the man is older than Israel!"

As laughter emerged from the Kneecap crowd, audience members were urged to "Google it" before the group delivered a parting jibe: "Rod the Prod."

The jibe appeared to reference Stewart's recent comments, where he declared Britain should give Reform UK leader Nigel Farage "a chance" and criticised Prime Minister Starmer's approach to Brexit.
