Vladimir Putin’s regime is on the brink of collapse as anti-Kremlin groups vow to depose the Russian President by the end of the year.

There have been increasing reports about attacks taking place in Russia, including a disputed drone strike on the Kremlin.

Ukraine has denied any involvement in any attacks which have been carried out in Russia.

However, anti-Putin groups have taken responsibility for other incidents.

The Russian President’s internal adversaries are now increasingly confident they can oust Putin by the end of 2023.

The Freedom of Russia Legion, which consists of Russian defectors and based inside Ukraine, is continuing with its onslaught into southern Russia.

Speaking to CBS, Freedom of Russia Legion’s political representative Ilya Ponomarev suggested anti-Putin forces could spell an end to his regime.

“That’s exactly the plan,” the former member of the State Duma said.

He added: “I think [the end of Putin’s regime] is coming this year.

“We see the events, how they are evolving in Russia, so I think that his regime will collapse.”

Moscow recently declared the Freedom of Russia Legion as a terrorist organisation.

The group has also reportedly cooperated with a separate organisation which allegedly has links to neo-Nazis.

Opinion polls in Russia suggest Putin’s approval rating is around 80 per cent.

However, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has posed problems to Putin, with 200,000 casualties in the ex-Soviet state.

Toughly fought skirmishes between Ukrainian and Russian troops continue, with Volodymyr Zelensky admitting progress was “slower than desired”.

He added: “Whatever some might want, including attempts to pressure us, with all due respect, we will advance on the battlefield the way we deem best.”
