The Red Bull chief faces fresh speculation after text messages were 'leaked'

Geri Halliwell could face a 'big dilemma' after messages alleged to have been sent by her husband Christian Horner were 'leaked', it has been claimed.

Horner was cleared of any wrongdoing by Red Bull on Wednesday following allegations of inappropriate behaviour but the saga will not go away.

Red Bull immediately launched an independent investigation at the beginning of last month after a female member of staff submitted complaints against Horner.

The 50-year-old team principal has always maintained he is innocent and has continued to work as usual ahead of the new F1 season.

Red Bull released a statement on Wednesday confirming that no action would be taken against Horner following a 'fair, rigorous and impartial' investigation.

However, the story took a fresh twist less than 24 hours later when an anonymous email account reportedly leaked text messages and photographs purporting to be the alleged evidence in the investigation.

The file, which is said to contain pictures and screenshots of WhatsApp messages, was sent to hundreds of journalists as well as other F1 team principals.

Horner has since released a statement, where he has again denied any allegations against him.

He said: "I will not comment on anonymous speculation, but to reiterate I have always denied the allegations.

"I respected the integrity of the independent investigation and fully cooperated with it every step of the way.

"It was a thorough and fair investigation conducted by an independent specialist barrister, and it has concluded dismissing the complaint made. I remain fully focused on the start of the season."

But the Daily Mail claims that the new 'leaks' have left Horner's wife Halliwell 'humiliated'.

A friend close to the former Spice Girl has told the newspaper that she is 'having the meltdown to end all meltdowns over the leaks'.

A source close to Halliwell says she was 'unsure what to believe' throughout the investigation.

The source also says 'This could end up being a big dilemma for her'.

Horner and Halliwell married in 2015 and the pair have one child together, seven-year-old Monty.

It is claimed by the same report that Halliwell had told friends she was 'relieved and elated' that claims against her husband were dropped on Wednesday.

She thought it had 'finally gone away' but the leaks have brought the saga back into the public spotlight.

Horner is in Bahrain ahead of the first race of the F1 season this weekend.

The statement released by Red Bull confirming that there would be no action taken against Horner hasn't gone down well with his rivals.

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff said: "Well I just read the statement, which was pretty basic, I would say.

"My personal opinion is we can't really look behind the curtain. At the end of the day, there is a lady in an organisation that has spoken to HR and said there is an issue.

"It was investigated and yesterday the sport has received a message, 'It's all fine. We've looked at it.'

"And I believe that with the aspirations as a global sport, on such critical topics, it needs more transparency and I wonder what the sport's position is."
