Prince William vowed to 'actually bring change' to the causes he cares about during his trip to Singapore

Royal biographer Angela Levin has warned of a "bubbling" feud between King Charles and Prince William, after the Prince of Wales vowed to do "more" than his family with his work.

Speaking to media during his recent visit to Singapore, where he hosted this years Earthshot Prize, Prince William said he wants to go a "step further" than the royal family, and bring real change to causes he supports.

Prince William spoke of his work for homelessness, mental health support and education, but made clear he doesn't want to "spread himself too thin".

William said: "I care about so many things, and previously the family have been very much spotlighting brilliantly and going round and highlighting lots - I want to go a step further - I want to actually bring change and I want to bring people to the table who can do the change if I can't do it."

The Prince of Wales added: "And so it's all about progressing, helping and advancing particular social causes that need to be given more support.

"It's more about how do I show my intent more? How do we do more for you? And give you a better, better future."

Reacting to the comments on GB News, Angela Levin told host Nana Akua that William's comments were "strange".

Levin also called the timing of the comments "inappropriate", and suggested they seem to undermine his family's work.

Levin stated: "He's now decided that he's going to do much more than the royal family have done so far. And he wants to build houses and he wants to get them to work and people in there and living comfortably.

"And that would be in the land that King Charles had before he became King.

"I think that it was a rather inappropriate time to say that. But we don't really want fights as to who's doing what, and I'm doing better than you because I'm actually getting houses and you're just signing.

"He doesn't want to sign pages and cut ribbons."

Discussing the taxpayer cost of protecting the royal family, Levin revealed that it is "less than two pounds" per person, following an investigation by The Guardian.

Levin said: "We've got to protect them. They're very important."

Host Nana agreed, commenting: "They're a net benefit anyway, and it's not like they don't really cost us anything in any way.

"In any case, they're very good for the this country and there's a continuity as well."
