US President Joe Biden has said transgender Americans are 'part of the fabric of our nation'

US President Joe Biden has been criticised for marking Transgender Day of Visibility in America, as commentator Lauren Chen claims "leftists have captured the White House".

The annual day of recognition for the transgender community fell this year on the same day as Easter Sunday, March 31.

In a statement, Biden marked the annual celebration and said transgender people "deserve and are entitled to the same rights and freedoms as every other American".

However, the President has been widely criticised for issuing his proclamation on the same day as Easter celebrations.

Speaking to GBN America, Chen told host Patrick Christys that Biden failed to mark one of the "most important dates for Christians of the year" on social media, instead focussing on the Transgender Day.

Chen argued that the Biden administration "did have their usual Easter egg hunt", but it "seemed on social media at the very least that the focus was definitely on Transgender Day".

Chen revealed that people at the White House were reportedly "told to keep the religious symbolism down" during their celebrations, instead focussing on the "secular" version of Easter.

Chen fumed: "A lot of Christians are feeling like this is a slap in the face."

Reflecting on Biden's efforts to win votes ahead of November's Presidential election, Chen noted that there is "no greater sense of pandering than when it comes to the way that politicians refer to trans people".

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Chen told GBN America that although the actual date for Easter Sunday can change, it is "no justification for the fact that the White House seems to have made a very conscious effort to play up Transgender Day of Visibility and downplay any relation to Christianity".

She added: "I think they're going after a very specific activist group right now that, frankly, is not so keen on religions, especially Christianity, but is very keen on trans people.

"Which is, by the way, ridiculous, because there are a lot of other religions out there, and I can certainly think of one that would execute them, whereas Christians wouldn't do that."

Host Patrick Christys was in agreement with Chen, and noted Caitlyn Jenner's response to Biden's proclamation, sharing her "disgust" over his decision to make March 31 the day of Transgender Visibility and not recognise Easter.

Patrick asked: "I wonder whether or not this is another example of the Biden administration virtue signalling towards a group of people who don't actually all entirely want him to virtue signal in their direction?"

Chen responded: "You're absolutely right. It's interesting because I've heard atheists say this is just pandering. Any time a President might recognise a religion, and I'm not just talking about Christianity, there are Jewish holidays, there are Muslim holidays. There is no greater sense of pandering than when it comes to the way that politicians refer to trans people.

"We are talking about less than one per cent of the of the population."

Patrick added, fuming: "It's not even a vote winner! You're appealing to less than one per cent of the population. Probably even less than that that actually care about it. It doesn't make any sense!"
