Two arrested on suspicion of car theft, after vehicle seen driving 'wrong way' down major Essex road

Essex South Roads Policing team made the arrests after spotting a vehicle driving down the A127 between Romford and Southend-on-Sea

Essex South Roads Policing team have arrested two people have been arrested following a number of car thefts in the south of the county.

The arrests were made after a vehicle was sited driving the wrong way down the A127 - a major Essex roadway linking Romford and Southend-on-Sea.

Several Ford vehicles have been stolen of late, according to the South Roads Policing team.

They tweeted:

"2 arrests overnight by our South Roads Policing Team, following a series of Ford Kuga thefts. Decamp following vehicle travelling wrong way A127. National Police Air Service thankfully located suspects.”

A police helicopter tracked down the suspects, after they fled the vehicle.
