One of the favourite destinations for British holidaymakers has updated it's coronavirus restrictions

Spain's updated Covid travel restrictions have made it harder to British travellers to visit the country.

Holidaymakers now face a shorter time frame to take a lateral flow test before they travel to Spain.

Brits will now have only 24 hours to take a Covid test before their flight departs, meaning they could risk missing out on their holiday if they test positive an hour before they fly.

Spain set Covid travel rules in June 2021 which gave people up to 48 hours to provide a negative lateral flow test to enter the country.

The Spanish government said, in an interview with local media Schengen News: "As of today [February 1] only negative results of antigen tests for SARS-CoV-2 infection obtained within 24 hours before arrival in Spain will be considered valid, and not 48 hours, as was the case until now."

Spain's current rules mean that Brits have 72 hours to take a PCR before they fly.

This comes after the airline EasyJet have issued a warning to Brits who have booked package holidays at specific resorts in Ibiza and Mallorca.

Anyone attempting to travel to the Spanish islands who has booked an All Inclusive stay via the budget airline will be given a six-drink limit a day.

EasyJet said: "Due to a change in Spanish law which affects certain resorts in the Balearic islands, alcoholic drinks are now limited to three per person at lunch and dinner as part of the all inclusive basis."
