The Church of England has admitted it doesn’t haven’t an official definition for a woman.
Rt Rev Robert Innes, a senior Bishop at the Church of England, said the term woman was previously “self-evident”, but now “additional care” was needed.
During questions to the General Synod, lay member Adam Kendry asked: “What is the Church of England’s definition of a woman?”
To which Mr Innes replied: “There is no official definition, which reflects the fact that until fairly recently definitions of this kind were thought to be self-evident, as reflected in the marriage liturgy.

“The Living in Love and Faith (LLF) project however has begun to explore the marriage complexities associated with gender identity and points to the need for additional care and thought to be given in understanding our commonalities and differences as people made in the image of God.”
Speaking on the matter on Twitter, GB News regular Calvin Robinson said: “The definition of ‘woman’ is not a complex moral problem.
“It is a scientific and biblical truth.
“How can you trust someone who cannot speak the truth about such basic facts?”
It comes as the debate over the definition of a woman continues as the transgender row rages on.
Mark Drakeford is the latest politician to wade in on the row, saying he believes “transgender women are women” after he was pushed to define what a woman is during a session at the Welsh Parliament.
The First Minister was answering a question about the inclusion of trans athletes in sport at the Senedd when he acknowledged it is an “argument that divides people”.
