GB News membership readers have been asked whether they think that Britain should send more aid to Ukraine or not

Saturday marked the two-year anniversary of the Russian invasion in Ukraine.

During these two years, the Ukrainian people have stood firm in the face of Russian aggression and have managed to push Putin's forces back.

Ukraine has received lots of aid from the UK and the West as a whole, helping them in their effort to fight back against Russia.

Rishi Sunak reaffirmed the UK's conviction to helping Ukraine, saying Britain was prepared to do "whatever it takes".

The Prime Minister pledged almost £250million towards producing artillery shells.

Sunak signed a new security agreement with Kyiv last month and announced £2.5billion of military aid to Ukraine over the coming year.

He said "we must renew our determination" on this "grim anniversary".

"This is the moment to show that tyranny will never triumph and to say once again that we will stand with Ukraine today and tomorrow," he said.

"We are prepared to do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, until they prevail."

In a GB News Members poll, 51 per cent said that the UK should give Ukraine more aid, 46 per cent said no, while three per cent said they were unsure.

Boris Johnson spoke exclusively to GB News, praising the Ukrainian people and stating that he believes they can win, urging the West to continue sending aid.

He said: "And I've got absolutely no doubt that they are going to win. And I think that with the support of the West, provided we do the right thing, given the right support militarily, politically and economically, the courage of Ukrainians, their natural determination to fight for their homeland will prevail."

GB News took to the streets of Birmingham to ask local residents their thoughts on sending aid to Ukraine.

One claimed that people in "our country need help as much as those in Ukraine."

She said: "We'll need help in this country as much as we need to help people in Ukraine. But we can't turn our back."

Another said: "We do need more help in this country, most definitely. I think it's outrageous to send that amount of money here abroad without consideration for the people who live in England. So you've got to look after your own people first."

A third person explained: "I think it's a good thing that we're sending aid and helping those that are in need. But at the same time, we're also in a cost of living crisis here and we've got lots of people that need assistance here."

Whilst a fourth fumed: "To be quite honest it is disgusting, the simple reason is we're paying literally on top of what is still going on and they want more money."
