A beauty influencer has recommended a tried and tested hack for glossy strands

From scalp exfoliations to hair masks, the solutions for shiny hair are seemingly endless, but the key to lustrous locks may be the most basic ingredients.

Fifty-nine-year-old influencer Vicky Derosa claims she boosts the colour and shine of her hair by rinsing out shampoo with natural ingredients like chamomile tea and apple cider vinegar.

Taking to her TikTok channel, the beauty fan declared: “It will leave your hair super shiny and feeling soft.

“A lot of the products that we put in our hair; if you look at the ingredients, they will shock you.”

For optimal results, Vicky recommends performing the regimen every week. Experts at Holland and Barrett endorse this advice, explaining that chamomile tea “can enhance any blonde barnet”.

The health body adds: “Chamomile tea has also seen to leave you with straighter and shinier hair.”

Apigen describes the natural pigment present in the petals of chamomile. When it adheres to the cuticles, a lightening effect occurs as light bounces off hair strands.

“Get super high-quality chamomile,” the content creator added. “Get the organic, get the flowers and you’re going to make some chamomile tea and just put it in a mason jar and take it to the shower with you.

“After you shampoo you rinse with the chamomile tea - it just makes your hair so super shiny. It’ll make your blonde pop.”

For brunettes, the ingredient of choice is apple cider vinegar, which may enhance natural hair colour by resealing the hair cuticle.

“If you’re brunette, [use] apple cider vinegar,” the content creator explained. “It does amazing things.”

“The apple cider vinegar has to be diluted with water. I’ll just use a large spray bottle, even for the chamomile. [...] It’ll leave your hair so shiny and so soft.”

She continued: “If you did this once a week or once a month oh my goodness, it makes the hair super shiny.”

Studies argue that while most hair products fail to address the pH levels of the scale, highly acidic substances like apple cider vinegar can.

By increasing and lowering pH levels, our locks become smoother, stronger, and shinier argues Healthline.

It comes soon after the beauty influencer claimed that she reduces signs of ageing by applying yoghurt to her skin.

For the best results, Vicky recommends cleansing the skin and leaving yoghurt on for 10 to 15 minutes in a thick layer before removing it with warm water.

“If you can do a yoghurt mask once a day, or two or three times a week, the lactic acid and the zinc are amazing for the skin,” says the content creator.
