It comes after an investigation into alleged sex offences

Russell Brand has been questioned by Met Police detectives over alleged historical sex offences.

A man in his forties, understood to be Brand, attended a police station in south London on Thursday, Scotland Yard said.

He was then questioned in relation to three “non-recent” alleged sex offences.

An investigation by Channel 4’s Dispatches, The Times and The Sunday Times published allegations on September 16th and 17th after four women came forward with claims over alleged incidents taking place between 2006 to 2013.

Brand has repeatedly and strongly denied the allegations since.

In a lengthy statement, he said: "What I seriously refute are these very, very serious criminal allegations.

He has previously been accused of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse at the height of his fame.

“Also, it's worth mentioning that there are witnesses whose evidence directly contradicts the narrative that these two mainstream media outlets are trying to construct, apparently, in what seems to me to be a coordinated attack.

"Now, I don't wanna get into this any further because of the serious nature of the allegations, but I feel like I'm being attacked and plainly they're working very closely together.

“We are obviously going to look into this matter 'cause it's very, very serious."
