The This Morning presenter was forced to miss the ITV show on Monday after she lost her voice

Holly Willoughby described Glastonbury a "freeing" experience as she attended the festival in the aftermath of the Phillip Schofield saga.

The This Morning presenter enthused over the festival which allowed her to "leave life's worries behind".

It comes after her former co-host Schofield was forced to quit ITV after he confessed to having an affair with a younger This Morning colleague.

Schofield apologised to Willoughby for lying to her about his secret relationship, with the pair having since broken all contact.

But she appeared to put the drama behind her as she shared her experience at the Somerset music festival with fans after she was forced her to miss the ITV daytime show on Monday due to losing her voice.

Writing about the event, which she attended alongside her TV executive husband Dan Baldwin, she explained in her Wylde Moon newsletter that watching Sir Elton John’s headline set was “pure magic”.

“Just what is it about going to a festival that makes you feel about 20 again?" she wrote.

"There’s something so freeing about it…as if you’ve entered a world that encourages you to leave life’s worries and responsibilities at the gate and let your hair down."

She added: “I spent three amazing days with incredible friends, listening to some of the best musicians on the planet — all whilst dancing like lunatics.

“Music brings people together like nothing else. I cannot begin to imagine how it must feel as an artist looking out at a Glastonbury crowd to see the faces of each and every person singing your lyrics.”

The presenter also praised the moment fans encouraged Lewis Capaldi through his set after he found himself struggling to control tics caused by his Tourette’s.

She said: “Never was this more poignant than the crowd singing back to Lewis Capaldi on Saturday, which was probably one of the most touching moments of the weekend.”

“Thanks to the amazing weather, Glastonbury also gave great moon…beginning the weekend as a sliver of a moon that built to almost a half-moon by the end,” the mother-of-three continued.

“I kept looking up at the night sky during the headline acts to see Mama Moon in all her glory, presiding over all of us.

“It’s so rare in the UK to have clear skies on consecutive evenings to watch her move through her phases. What a treat.

“This week brings us the Waxing Gibbous Moon, the lunar phase of reflection. I should think I’ll be doing a lot of reflecting and reminiscing this week given all the memories we’ve just made.

“When I think back, the feeling of being part of the crowd who witnessed Elton John perform his farewell show, is so humbling.”
