Nigel Farage has hit out at Just Stop Oil after the group attempted to ruin his day at Lord’s.

The GB News presenter attended England’s test match against Ireland, an event targeted by eco activists.

Farage slammed those involved, dubbing them “left-wing extremists”.

The England team bus was delayed as the team made their way to the historic cricket ground.

Jonny Bairstow shared an image on his Instagram story on Thursday morning, where Just Stop Oil protesters were seen in front of their team coach in the middle of a road in Kensington.

Farage took to Twitter to voice his displeasure at the group’s antics, saying they should be “cleared off the streets”.

He said: “Our friends at Just Stop Oil have walked in front of the England team cricket coach.

“They managed to get here, we did start on time.

“They're planning to disrupt the derby on Saturday. Remember, these people, Just Stop Oil, Animal Rising, all these people, they are total left-wing extremists.

“It’s about time the police cleared them off the streets, did so more quickly.

“I think I've got that off my chest. I think it's now time for a drink.”

Amid the threat of further disruption, Marylebone Cricket Club, who are based at Lord’s, said security measures have been enhanced in some areas.

“We look forward to welcoming players and spectators to the first international Test match of the summer at Lord’s. Their safety and security is the highest priority for MCC,” an MCC spokesperson said.

“We have a number of ground regulations that help us achieve that; including not entering the playing area or demonstrating.

“Whilst protests would disrupt the game, we have a number of security measures in place, some visible, some less so to deter this. In some areas we have enhanced those existing provisions ahead of this summer’s schedule.”

Just Stop Oil protesters were able to disrupt the Gallagher Premiership final at Twickenham between Saracens and Sale last weekend.

Two men invaded the pitch midway through the first half and threw orange paint powder onto the field before being removed by security.
