England’s captain is just 47 goals behind Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League record

Six-time European champions Bayern Munich have submitted a £60million transfer offer for Spurs striker Harry Kane.

The 29-year-old, who netted 30 goals for the North London club last season, has just one year left on his contract at White Hart Lane.

There has been increased speculation about Kane leaving Tottenham Hotspur but a potential move to English rivals Manchester United looks increasingly unlikely.

Kane was briefly poised to join Manchester City but the Sky Blues eventually signed Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

The Bundesliga champions, who have attached add-ons to the proposed deal, are in the market for an out-and-out striker this summer and England’s captain is high on their list of priorities.

Thomas Tuchel’s Bavarian side will hope to reclaim the German league for a twelfth consecutive season and advance further in the UEFA Champions League.

Tottenham Hotspur failed to qualify for any continental cups last season as the Lilywhites languished behind North London rivals Arsenal to finish in a poor eighth place.

Spurs have rejected the offer from the giants of German football and insist Kane is not leaving White Hart Lane this summer.

Tottenham have reportedly not been willing to let Kane go for less than £100million but there could be some wriggle room from clubs overseas.

Kane’s personal negotiations with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy were put on hold last season as the club fixed efforts on finishing the league in a coveted European spot.

However, following the shock departure of ex-Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, Tottenham were unable to finish above Aston Villa to qualify for the lowest rung Conference League competition.

Despite gunning for Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goal-scoring record, reports previously suggested Real Madrid were also interested in signing Kane.

Kane is yet to win any domestic or international silverware but broke Jimmy Greaves’ all-time Spurs record in February and surpassed Wayne Rooney’s 53 goals for England one month later.

The father-of-three fell agonisingly short of becoming England’s second captain to win a major trophy after losing on penalties in the European Championship Final to Italy at Wembley in 2021.

Kane has also reached two League Cup finals, one Champions League final and finished seven-points behind London rivals Chelsea in the Premier League as Spurs finished runners-up in 2017.

Australian gaffer Ange Postecoglou, who joined Tottenham after completing the treble with Scottish club Celtic, will hope Kane opts to stay at White Hart Lane for another season.

However, the Three Lions’ captain could join a small list of English players who have played at the Allianz Arena.

Owen Hargreaves, who was capped 42 times by England, played 145 times for Germany’s most successful club.

Omar Richards, 25, spent a season at Bayern Munich before joining Nottingham Forest in 2022.

However, other English players have also crossed over into the Bundesliga, including 19-year-old midfielder Jude Bellingham at Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool hero Kevin Keegan at Hamburg.

Kane’s Spurs teammate Ryan Sessegnon even spent a season on loan at 1899 Hoffenheim before returning to White Hart Lane.
