Ange Postecoglou gave a defiant interview on Sunday after his Tottenham side were thumped 4-1 by Brighton in their final match of the Premier League season.
Spurs went into the game on a high after beating Manchester United to win the Europa League on Wednesday night.
But Tottenham were given a reality check today, with Brighton running out 4-1 winners following a brace from Jack Hinshelwood and further effforts from Matt O'Riley and Diego Gomez.
Postecoglou, despite steering Spurs to Europa League glory, could still face the sack.

But the former Celtic boss is proud of how the season has panned out, insisting supporters would have taken a trophy and Champions League qualification at the start of the campaign.
"Yeah disappointing result, pretty fatigued second half," he said.
"First half was okay. We controlled it pretty well, scored and should have had a second but fatigued second half and the game got away from us.
"How do I assess our season? Outstanding! Won a trophy which we haven't for 17 years and we're in the Champions League.

"Ask anyone supporter at start of the season if they'd take that and there wouldn't be a person in the house that wouldn't."
When grilled specifically on his future, he added: "It doesn't bother me asking me about my future. I can't answer.
"I'm pretty relaxed about it. it's been an unbelievable season. I couldn't be any prouder.
"You're asking the wrong person. everyone in the media is intelligent enough to know I'm not the person to know to ask those questions.

"I'll have a break and then hopefully we'll be back first day next season to start things."
Tottenham have finished the campaign in 17th.
Oliver Glasner is one name in the frame to potentially replace Postecoglou, having guided Crystal Palace to FA Cup glory last weekend.
Thomas Frank, Francesco Farioli, Scott Parker and Andoni Iraola have also been linked with the post.

While Tottenham were poor, it was a flying finish from Brighton.
They have been inconsistent at times this term but were impressive as they claimed all three points to end their campaign on a high.

Tottenham will next play on July 31, when they'll lock horns with fierce rivals Arsenal in a pre-season friendly before proceeding to face Harry Kane's Bayern Munich.
Brighton are yet to confirm which country they'll be touring.
