Buckingham Palace has released a new photo of Queen Camilla to mark the royal’s 78th birthday as she became the first royal to be named Vice Admiral of the UK

The picture showed Camilla at ease in the garden at Raymill, Her Majesty’s private house in Wiltshire.


The photo, captured by Chris Jackson, was taken earlier this month at the exclusive sanctuary of the Queen.

In the image, Camilla could be seen smiling at the camera as she leant on a fence post in a field of long grass in the beaming summer sun.

Buckingham Palace have shared a new photo of Queen Camilla ahead of her 78th birthday

The Queen wore a vibrant teal button-up blouse with a bold jungle print.

Her blouse features patterns of green foliage and various tropical animals, including parrots, flamingos and monkeys.

Camilla accessorises with gold hoop earrings, a gold bracelet, and her signature rings.

The picture was posted to official Royal Family social media along with the caption: "Ahead of Her Majesty’s 78th birthday tomorrow, a new picture of The Queen has been released by Buckingham Palace.

An image of the Queen the same outfit but cuddling her rescue dog, Moley, was published earlier this week

"The image was taken this month, in the garden at Raymill, Her Majesty’s private home in Wiltshire, by Chris Jackson," it said.

Wednesday’s photo was released just days after another unseen picture of the Queen was published to mark her visit to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

The image, also taken by Chris Jackson, showed Camilla cuddling her new rescue puppy, Moley, and wearing the same outfit as her birthday photo.

Like her birthday image, it was also taken in the grounds of Camilla’s Raymill home.

The Queen has also been granted the prestigious title of Vice Admiral of the UK

In the photo, Camilla could be seen beaming in the snap as her new puppy looked inquisitively at the camera, ears alert. 

The image was captioned with: "It was a fantastic afternoon at @Battersea - we are so grateful for all that you do!"

"Whilst Moley was keeping cool at home, he wishes he could have been reunited with some of his old friends," it added sweetly.

Ahead of the Queen's birthday on Thursday, Camilla was granted the honour of becoming the first member of the Royal family to be appointed Vice Admiral of the UK.

The Queen spent Wednesday visiting the submarine HMS Astute after receiving her new title

The honorary appointment, which has its origins as far back as the 16th century, was given to reflect the Queen’s long held support of the Royal Navy.

It also recognised the "high regard" in which she is held.

First Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Staff, Gen Sir Gwyn Jenkins, explained Camilla’s new title would "further enhance Her Majesty’s relationship with the service".

Exercising her new role, the Queen as spent Wednesday visiting the Royal Navy's oldest submarine in service, HMS Astute, and observe the end of the vessel's first commission.
