The Dutchman hasn't held back following Sunday's race in France

Max Verstappen has hit out after the Monaco Grand Prix, with the 27-year-old raging that you 'can't race here' after missing out on a place on the podium.

Lando Norris secured glory at the Circuit de Monaco, with Charles Leclerc second and Oscar Piastri third.

It was a frustrating day for Verstappen, with the 27-year-old losing more ground in the race for F1 title glory.

And the Red Bull star has now criticised the track at Monaco, insisting that it makes it difficult to overtake other drivers.

"You can't race here. It doesn't matter what you do. One stop, 10 stops," he said.

"Even at the end, I was in the lead, my tyres were completely gone and you still can't pass.

"Nowadays with an F1 car, you can just pass an F2 car around here. I get it but I don't think it's worked.

"We were almost doing Mario Kart. Then we have to install bits on the car and maybe you can throw bananas around! Slippery surface!"

While it was a frustrating day for Verstappen, it was an afternoon to remember for Norris.

The McLaren star had his issues at the start of the campaign, with team-mate Piastri winning three races in a row.

Norris is, however, firmly back in the mix for glory in the wake of his sensational exploits in Monte Carlo.

Reacting to his victory, the Briton stated: "It feels amazing. It's a long, gruelling race, but good fun.

"We could push for much of the race. The last quarter was stressful with Leclerc behind and Max ahead, but we won in Monaco.

"This is what I dreamed of when I was a kid, so I achieved one of my dreams.

"I think it was you [talking to Sky F1's Jenson Button], I saw you in front of my car before the start and I thought, if JB's here now... he's my good luck charm. Is 'Monaco, baby', yours? I apologise!

"The worst bit was the end. I felt quite under control the whole race but Max was backing it up a little bit and I knew Charles had opportunities.

"I tried to back off Max so I could push when I needed to. I'm very happy, my team are very happy. Therefore we're going to have a wonderful night!"

He's still got a 25 point lead over George Russell, who has managed four podiums this term.
