The Formula One icon has found himself in the spotlight following Sunday's race in America

Formula One commentator Martin Brundle found himself in an awkward situation at the Miami Grand Prix after congratulating boxer Conor Benn for his fight against Chris Eubank Jr - despite Benn having lost the bout.

The British boxing star was spotted at the F1 event over the weekend, just a week after suffering defeat to his rival in their highly-anticipated clash.

Benn and Eubank Jr had engaged in a 12-round battle at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Eubank Jr emerging victorious via unanimous decision.

During his grid walk, Brundle approached Benn for an interview but made a crucial mistake when discussing the recent fight.

After introducing himself, Brundle said: "Wow! What a boxing match that was - congratulations."

Benn quickly corrected the F1 icon with grace, replying: "Thank you, I appreciate that. Although it was a great fight, I didn't get the W [win] which I hoped for."

The boxer immediately pivoted to his future plans, adding: "So hopefully we'll run it back in September and I can make amends."

Despite the awkward moment, Benn handled the situation with professionalism, focusing on the potential rematch rather than dwelling on Brundle's error.

Benn went on to share his first impressions of the Miami Grand Prix with Brundle.

"This is my first time here. It's absolutely amazing, what an event, what an occasion, I see why loads of people turn up," he enthused.

The boxer was among several high-profile British figures at the event.

Other notable attendees included Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, comedian Jack Whitehall and celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.

The star-studded crowd witnessed McLaren's Oscar Piastri claim victory in the race.

This aligns with Benn's comments to Brundle about a September rematch where he hopes to "make amends" for his defeat.

Some boxing experts have suggested Benn might consider following advice from Eubank Sr to drop back down to welterweight.

This move could potentially help Benn in his quest to become a world champion.
