The England international has taken to social media on Monday to confirm his intentions

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been bombarded with abuse on social media after the Liverpool star confirmed he'd be leaving the club at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old is expected to join Real Madrid on a free transfer and has confirmed his intentions just over a week after winning his second Premier League title at Anfield.

Alexander-Arnold has won every major trophy during his time at Liverpool.

He feels he has earned the right to depart, explaining that he's keen to experience life 'out of his comfort zone' as a result.

But Liverpool fans on social media have now ripped into the England international, with many unhappy that he'll be leaving on a free.

"Horrible. Hopefully never to be seen a Liverpool shirt ever again," said one user.

A second fumed: "You will flop like those who have left @LFC before."

Another wrote: "Really disappointing that you’ve done this, but we knew this was happening before you said a word, all the best. You will need it."

"This club has been my whole life – my whole world - for 20 years. From the Academy right through until now, the support and love I have felt from everyone inside and outside of the club will stay with me forever. I will forever be in debt to you all.
