The York sisters sat down for an interview with Prince Harry's ex-girlfriend

Prince Andrew has suffered a blow as Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice discussed childhood in a new interview, but failed to mention their father.

The York sisters sat down for an interview with the Lessons From Our Mothers podcast, hosted by Cressida Bonas, Prince Harry's ex-girlfriend, and Isabella Branson.

Beatrice, 36, and Eugenie, 35, were full of praise for their mother, Sarah Ferguson, as they reflected on lessons from their childhood.

Bonas asked the sisters: “You guys have such a close bond, is that something that your mum instilled?"

Branson added: “I think as mothers we have quite a responsibly for setting the culture of our families, and obviously our husbands do too and fathers do too, but as women there's a lot that we do to create that culture and I think closeness of siblings comes into that."

Eugenie explained: “So I said at the beginning she's so spontaneous and full of joy bubbles.

"She taught us how to be Table Manners A and Table Manners Z - so we’d go between the two and we’d know what the boundaries were.

"I remember lessons of how she would say, ‘You can eat here with Table Manners Z, you can eat with your fingers’, and then we would go to Table Manners A [and she would say], 'You eat with your knives and forks.'

"I think because Beatrice and I had to live in a certain way, we’ve always done it as sisters and done it as siblings and she’s come at it from a perspective of, 'You guys are really the only other people in each others lives who know exactly what goes on.'"

Beatrice added: “Also, Eug and I love each other so much but mum really instilled in us this sense that we always had each other especially as sisters - she's very close with her sister who actually lives in Australia, but their closeness is incredible.”

When asked what Fergie would be most proud of, Beatrice explained: “She’d be most proud of our relationship.

"The relationship that Eug and I have, but also the relationship we have with her and how sacred that is.

"We are a tripod, but we are each other’s biggest fans and now in our career paths and in our charity work, we turn up for each other and that relationship and the effort and the work that she put in to creating that is probably one of the things that I’m most proud of.”

Neither Beatrice nor Eugenie mentioned their father, the Duke of York, who stepped down from royal duties in 2019 following the controversy surrounding his links to Jeffrey Epstein.

Prince Andrew and Sarah divorced in 1996, but continue to live together at Royal Lodge in Windsor.

As the Duke of York has been wrapped in several scandals, the York sisters and their mother appear to refrain from posting about him on social media and discussing him at length.

The family of four were last seen together on Easter Sunday when they joined King Charles and Queen Camilla at church.

The Duchess of York has praised her ex-husband on multiple occasions, telling the Times: “I was totally and utterly in love with Andrew. He's the best, a great man with a great heart, and kind.”
