Littler takes on Gerwyn Price tonight in the Premier League Darts finale

Luke Littler has made a conscious strategic decision to reduce his television show appearances ahead of this season's Premier League Darts finale.

The teenage sensation and his team have deliberately cut back on chat show commitments and social media obligations to create a more relaxed campaign.

This marks a significant shift from his approach 12 months ago, when Littler was in high demand following his extraordinary run to the World Darts Championship final.

The decision reflects a more focused preparation strategy as he heads into the crucial finale stages of the Premier League season.

Last year, Littler appeared on high-profile programmes including ITV's The Jonathan Ross Show and BBC's Comic Relief following his remarkable World Championship final appearance.

The 17-year-old was a boy in demand during this period, juggling numerous television commitments alongside his darting career.

His hectic media schedule created significant logistical challenges, with Littler explaining the demanding travel arrangements.

"I found out while I was doing the first Premier League that the travel was Thursday night, and then on Friday night we'd have to rush down to a European Tour," he said.

The packed itinerary of shows and social media work proved beneficial for his online presence but created additional pressure during competition periods.

Littler, who has more than 1.9 million followers on Instagram, acknowledged the benefits of his previous approach whilst explaining the reasoning behind this year's changes.

"I did a lot of stuff for social media. A lot of shows, like The Jonathan Ross Show, which was really good," he said.

"But this year it has been a lot more relaxing, which we wanted, in terms of the shows and stuff. That was good for my socials last year. This year it's all about kicking on."

The reduced commitments have allowed for better tournament preparation, with Littler noting the improved balance between media obligations and competitive focus as he secured top spot in the Premier League.

The strategic approach has positioned Littler well for the Premier League finale, where he faces a challenging semi-final against Gerwyn Price on Thursday night.

Price has proven to be Littler's bogeyman, winning six of their past eight meetings.

The other semi-final sees world number one Luke Humphries tackle Nathan Aspinall, with £275,000 on the line for the eventual winner at London's O2 Arena.

Should both Littler and Humphries progress, it would set up another chapter in their developing rivalry.

Humphries, 30, said: "I enjoy playing Luke as I know I have to be at my best. I hope this rivalry will flourish, it's good for the game."
