The Blues won 4-1 on Wednesday night

Mykhailo Mudryk was excluded from Chelsea's Conference League trophy celebrations despite travelling to Poland for the final.

The suspended Ukrainian winger was left out of the post-match ceremonies after the Blues' 4-1 victory over Real Betis in Wroclaw saw them claim glory in Europe's third-tier competition.

Mudryk, 24, is currently suspended from playing after testing positive for the banned substance meldonium while on international duty in November.

It has not been made official whether Mudryk's B-sample was also contaminated but he has not played for them so far this year.

Despite his suspension, the winger made an unannounced appearance in Wroclaw hoping to collect a medal after his contributions during the competition's league phase.

Chelsea came from behind to secure a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Real Betis in the Conference League final. Cole Palmer inspired the comeback with two superb assists for Enzo Fernandez and Nicolas Jackson before Jadon Sancho and Moises Caicedo rounded off the victory.

The triumph meant Chelsea got their hands on the Conference League trophy and completed the set of European silverware after their Champions League and Europa League triumphs. The Blues' players collected their winner's medals from Aleksander Ceferin after the final whistle.

However, Mudryk was nowhere to be seen during the medal ceremony despite his presence at the stadium.

The Ukraine international's shock appearance even surprised manager Enzo Maresca.

Mudryk winger was spotted wearing a club gilet in a steakhouse on the eve of the final, having turned up unannounced in Wroclaw.

When asked about the forward's presence, Maresca said: "To be honest, I just... Is he here or is he coming? He's here. I'm happy for Misha to be here."

The manager appeared caught off guard by the development, adding: "I don't know, I just said that. I'm happy for Misha to be here."

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

Mudryk's unexpected arrival in Poland came as he sought to collect a medal following his earlier contributions to Chelsea's Conference League campaign.

Mudryk had played in six Conference League matches during the league phase before his shock suspension, scoring three goals for the Blues.

Reports have claimed the former Shakhtat Donetsk star made the journey to Poland specifically in order to pick up a medal for his contributions to the campaign.

His goal tally and match appearances during the earlier stages of the competition would typically entitle a player to receive winner's medals alongside their team-mates.

However, despite his presence at the stadium and his earlier involvement in Chelsea's path to European glory, Mudryk did not pick up a medal or get to join in the celebrations with the rest of his teammates after the final whistle.

Meanwhile, speaking after winning the trophy, Maresca stated: “I am very happy. I was a little bit frustrated in the first half, because I think we approached the game in the wrong way.

"Also, I expected a little bit, the happiness was a bit too much after Nottingham Forest, because you go all season waiting and waiting [for Champions League qualification]. So, we struggled a bit first half, second half we were much better and now we are very happy.

“The message after Nottingham Forest was, ‘Guys, if we want to be an important team then what we have done is done, and we have to win the final.

"But, it’s the happiness, the tiredness because we had 48 hours less than them [to recover and prepare]. They played on Friday for nothing, we played on Sunday for a big, big target. So, I expected it a little bit. In the second half, we played much better.”
