The Ipswich striker is highly sought-after

Liam Delap has expressed his desire to join Chelsea, telling a host of clubs he is Stamford Bridge-bound, according to reports.

Delap, 22, is one of the most sought-after talents in the Premier League after scoring 12 goals for Ipswich Town last season, despite their relegation to the Championship.

His £30million release clause has made him an exciting prospect for many top teams across England and Europe.

It appears the forward has decided to snub teams like Juventus and AC Milan to join the Blues, while Manchester United were also strongly linked with a summer swoop.

Delap will now join Chelsea if they can meet the requirements of his release clause and come to an agreement with the England youth international on personal terms, according to The Athletic.

Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna confirmed last week that Delap had been considering his options after the Tractor Boys’ relegation was confirmed.

"Liam's looking at his options for next year, which I think he is entitled to do and we support him with that," he said

"I think we have given him permission to do that this week. It's a very important decision for his future. Of course, there is a lot of interest - and rightly so.

"I think part of his week has been having some of those conversations.

"It looks more likely than not that he will move on this summer and he has interest from pretty much every club in the league, and I don't think there are many clubs in the world who wouldn't want to have him.

"Nothing is sorted, nothing is done or completed or even very, very, very close, so that process will take its course."

If Chelsea do decide to follow through on their signing of Delap, it could end their interest in Sporting Lisbon striker Victor Gyokeres.

The Blues had also been linked with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, who could still move to the Premier League.

Arsenal will see Delap going to Chelsea as great news, as Mikel Arteta is keen on bringing Sesko or Gyokeres to the Emirates this summer.

The Gunners will be keen to challenge for the Premier League title next term, having failed to pose much of a threat to Liverpool this time around.
