King Charles’ bid to further slim down the monarchy has been branded “unworkable” in a scathing assessment by royal commentator Lady C Campbell.
Her comments came after the monarch was tipped by a former butler to make more changes to the “core” Royal Family after already making his own “twist”.
The expert says evidence of the proposed changes have already been fleshed out with public showings such as Trooping the Colour, where a limited number of royals appeared on the balcony.
But speaking on GB News, royal commentator Lady Colin Campbell said the plan is a “big mistake”.

“The King is guilty of stupidity”, she said.
“I have been told for 20 years now that Charles’ idea of slimming down the monarchy is unworkable.

“Anybody who does any charity work knows that most of the work that the royals, both senior and junior, is behind the scenes, 98 per cent of it is never reported upon.
“Charles appears to be heading in the direction of, ‘everything in the media is validated, and everything else is ignored’.
“I’m sorry, it’s just unworkable. We’re not Sweden or Denmark. Denmark has a population half the size of London.
“We’re a much bigger country and there is a real need for the royals to continue doing the unpaid charity work and supporting ordinary people.

“Most of what they do is never reported upon and it is a big mistake to think that doesn’t count, it is the backbone of royalty as it is what makes people in this country think the royals are worth having.”
Speaking to Slingo, former royal butler Grant Harrold said: "If you look from the Queen’s time it looked like Piccadilly Circus, if you look at it now it looks like something after Armageddon, it’s completely different.
"He has very carefully and dignifiedly slimmed down the monarchy to what he classifies as the core family and that will only get smaller as sadly his royal cousins die off.
"They won’t pick people to step in, I think it will become a slimmed-down monarchy as he has always wanted."
The monarch has recently made a state visit to France, with his diplomatic powers branded "stronger than ever" by GB News' Royal Correspondent Cameron Walker.
Charles has been pushing for a slimmed-down monarch for decades, and has always been keen on ditching a number of senior working royals.
He is said to be prioritising those at the very top of the pecking order, including the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Edward and Sophie and the Princess Royal, Anne, along with her husband Timothy Laurence.
Charles was reportedly looking at axing 20 per cent of royal household middle managers earlier this summer, suggesting there are “too many staff doing similar jobs”.
