While Mr Macron and Mr Johnson did shake hands, the French President was quick to move on and speak to other delegates.
That led to the PM standing alone momentarily.
Luckily for Mr Johnson, after around 30 seconds, US President Joe Biden came to greet him, before he went on to speak to Mr Macron.
That led to many people describing the incident as “embarrassing”, while Mr Farage took to Twitter to vent his frustration.
The former Brexit Party leader said: “Take your hands out of your pockets, Johnson!”
Speaking after the talks, Mr Johnson said the UK and its allies "will not stand by while Putin vents his fury on Ukraine".
He added: "Putin's failure in Ukraine is vital for the peace and prosperity of all us and his barbaric invasion has galvanised the international community into collective action.
"We will work with like-minded allies to ramp up lethal aid to Ukraine at scale, providing kit to President Zelenksyy with the quality and quantity that he needs to defend his country from its bullying neighbour."
