Samsung Galaxy's Unpacked event on 9 July announced the launch of several of its new foldable devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 FE. There was not, however, mention of Samsung's highly anticipated trifold phone.
The release may be expected as soon as in the next few months, according to Roh Tae-moon, President and Head of Mobile Experience at Samsung. "We are working hard on a tri-fold smartphone with the goal of launching it at the end of this year,” Roh told The Korea Times.
There are rumours circling that the name of the new trifold model will be called the Galaxy G Fold, but it has yet to be confirmed. If named this way, the "G " would refer to the device's ability to take after the letter G when folded and left partly opened.
Samsung's Trifold Phone Anticipated Features
The concept of a trifold phone isn't completely new to Samsung, as they originally teased the idea of the release in January's Galaxy Unpacked event. There was also a conceptual version displayed at Mobile World Congress 2025.
An unnamed executive at Samsung told Android Authority the hardware for the device has already been designed. "We have it, we are ready (for it), we can put it into production."
Compared to traditional style smartphones, foldable devices, also known as "book-style" phones, offer an increased screen size after they're fully unfolded. The larger screen real estate can assist with multitasking, allowing users to run different applications right next to each other. Since they're easily able to fold down, this also allows for better compact portability.
If opting for the trifold style, the screen may be even bigger and act as a portable tablet for those who prefer a larger display. The battery within the device may be split between the cells of the phone—meaning there's room for a larger battery life within the design.
These are the anticipated features of the Samsung trifold phone. Although, these features are subject to change before the product's final release to the public.
