Preorders are available now ahead of its July 25 release date

Galaxy Z Flip 7 has been announced at a glitzy Galaxy Unpacked event in New York City. The refreshed foldable arrives with bigger touchscreens, improved cameras, and a faster Qualcomm chipset to unlock new Galaxy AI features.

Somehow Samsung has managed to squeeze all of these hardware upgrades into a thinner device that weighs about the same as a bar of Cadbury's Fruit & Nut. Preorders for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 are available now, with the foldable coming to mobile networks and high street stores nationwide from July 25.

Samsung UK Mobile Experience VP of Product and Marketing, Annika Bizon said: "The beauty of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is you don’t have to compromise between pocket-friendly portability and flagship power. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 brings together the most advanced Galaxy AI capabilities, an immersive FlexWindow and an ultra-compact design, proving that the foldables category is a long way from reaching its limit."

The first thing you'll notice about Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expanded cover screen, known as the FlexWindow. Samsung has increased the screen real estate from 3.4-inches on the Galaxy Z Flip 6 up to 4.1 inches on the Galaxy Flip 7. The South Korean firm managed to expand the touchscreen without dramatically increasing the overall footprint of the handset.

To achieve this feat, Samsung has stretched to FlexWindow to the very edge of the chassis — leaving a minuscule 1.25mm border around the AMOLED display, one of the thinnest on any Galaxy device. Samsung has wrapped the touchscreen display around the dual camera system to fill every corner of the case.

As well as a larger footprint, the FlexWindow is also much brighter (up to 2,600-nits peak brightness) to ensure it's easily visible in direct sunlight and supports 120Hz high refresh-rate to enable fluid system animations, like scrolling.

These improvements should make the FlexWindow more useful, reducing the need to flip open the Galaxy Z Flip 7 each time you want to scroll through your photo library, reply to a text message, or review statistics from your latest workout.

Samsung has enabled access to Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, like Google Gemini, from the FlexWindow. Using hands-free voice commands, you'll be able to Gemini to pull-up flight details for the Boarding Pass in your Samsung Wallet, schedule reminders, or find restaurants at your location, all without opening the main screen on the Galaxy Z Flip 7.

The Now Bar, which was introduced with the Galaxy S25 lineup earlier this year, brings real-time updates from within your favourite apps, showing podcast progress or an ETA for your Uber driver, to the FlexWindow too.

Samsung has worked to integrate the feature with more third-party apps, so you can check what song is playing around you, peek at the latest football scores, and more, at a glance.

When you do decide to flip open the Flip 7, Samsung has upgraded its AMOLED display to 6.9-inches with 120Hz refresh-rate and a peak brightness of 2,600-nits, the same as the bolstered FlexWindow. The new screen has a 21:9 aspect ratio, which is closer to what you'll find on a traditional smartphone.

That should make typing on the on-screen keyboard easier for those switching to a foldable for the first time.

Galaxy Z Flip 7 boasts an improved camera system, with a 50MP main camera and 12MP ultra-wide lens. Samsung’s advanced ProVisual Engine automatically optimises your camera settings before you press the shutter button — delivering crisp, detailed shots in any lighting, with no manual adjustments needed.

Samsung has added Enhanced Nightography to improve capture in challenging low-light conditions, removing noise and blurred frames. Galaxy Z Flip 7 can preview filters in real-time, so you'll know exactly what the final result will look like before you press the shutter — with no need to spend time editing after-the-fact.

At just 13.7mm when folded, Galaxy Z Flip 7 is the thinnest Flip that Samsung has ever launched. It's also the lightest, tipping the scales at just 188 grams.

Despite its diet, Samsung has managed to find room inside the slimmer Galaxy Z Flip7 for a bigger battery. With a 4,300mAh lithium-ion cell — an increase of 300mAh compared to its predecessor — Samsung says Galaxy Z Flip 7 owners will be able to watch 31 hours of video on a single charge.

Powering the new foldable is Snapdragoin 8 Elite for Galaxy, the same system-on-a-chip found inside the Galaxy S25 lineup and Galaxy Z Fold 7. This delivers an improved NPU for Galaxy AI tasks and 26% better GPU performance for mobile gaming on the Galaxy Z Flip 7. It also enables Samsung DeX for the first time, so you'll be able to plug-in the handset via USB-C and use all of your Android apps on the big screen with PC-like multitasking.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 starts at £1,049 for the 256GB model and £1,149 for 512GB. Available to preorder now until July 25, Samsung will treat yu to double the built-in storage — unlocking 512GB for the price of 256GB.
