The Sky Sports pundit has reacted after the Reds won the first trophy of the new season

Gary Neville has admitted he 'can't wait' until Jurgen Klopp leaves Liverpool after the Reds beat Chelsea to win the Carabao Cup.

The match at Wembley looked to be going to penalties until a dramatic late header from Virgil van Dijk.


The Netherlands international broke the deadlock in the 119th minute of the match, sparking wild celebrations among Liverpool fans in the process.

Klopp was jubilant at full time, with the German joining his players in celebrating their victory.

And Neville, speaking on Sky Sports, has admitted he can't wait until the 56-year-old departs Anfield at the end of the season.

"Look at the energy, the passion, the spirit of [Jurgen] Klopp," he said.

"I can't wait until he leaves!"

Van Dijk has also spoken out after Liverpool beat Chelsea.

And the defender was delighted, cutting an emotional figure as he spoke to Sky and reacted to the action.

"So much. All the young boys on the pitch, in extra time. It's incredible, I'm so proud of the team.

"Intense game for both sides, they had chances we had chances. Amazing. First trophy as Liverpool captain, it's all for the fans so let's enjoy it.

"It's emotion, it's everything I am so proud of the boys.

"All of the young boys playing their part in what we achieved today it's incredible and on to more."

Van Dijk was then asked if he was savouring the win given the clock is ticking on Klopp's tenure as Liverpool manager.

"You should always savour the good moments, this is definitely one of them," he added.

"Listen, we will never take things for granted and you see today it could have been the other was as well that we lost but we did a job, even with all the problems we have had before the game.

"I'm so proud, proud to be part of this club and especially proud of the boys."

Jamie Carragher has urged Liverpool to build on their win against Chelsea.

With one trophy in the bank already, the Reds are hoping to secure Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League glory by the time their manager walks off into the sunset.

And Carragher said: "Great scenes for those young players.

"I said when it was announced that Jurgen Klopp was leaving that it's up to these Liverpool players to send him out with a bang and they've started it well."

Liverpool won't have too long to reflect on their Carabao Cup triumph, however.

The Merseyside giants will do battle with Southampton in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Wednesday night.

As for Chelsea, the Blues are next in action against Chelsea on the same night.

Mauricio Pochettino will be proud of the way his Blues side performed given they kept Liverpool at bay for 119 minutes.

But that will be of little comfort to the Argentine, who is still yet to win a trophy during his time in English football.
