Princess Beatrice attended King Charles's birthday party as a potential royal promotion hangs in the balance.

The King turned 75 on Tuesday and marked the occasion with a glitzy bash at Clarence House.

Prince William, the Princess of Wales, Princess Beatrice, Zara Tindall, Mike Tindall and Lady Sarah Chatto were all pictured at the event.

Beatrice's attendance comes as King Charles is reportedly considering promoting the Princesses of York to working members of the Royal Family.

The monarchy is suffering a shortage of working members as Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and Prince Andrew no longer undertake duties for the Firm.

Earlier this year, the King's sister Princess Anne criticised the decrease in working members of the Royal Family.

Prince Andrew's daughters have been mooted as the most likely candidates to take on the role of a working royal.

In October, a royal insider claimed that the Royal Family were holding meetings to discuss whether to promote Beatrice and Eugenie.

However, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told GBNews.com that the Princesses of York are unlikely to be selected as working royals.

Fitzwilliams said: "Something like this has been perfectly obvious for a long time.

"When people were talking about slimlining the monarchy when there were just four working royals under the age of 70, it was not possible.

"It will be a new look at it all. It is clearly something that needs attention.

"The problem is who will step into this space."

He added: "As far as Beatrice and Eugenie are concerned I think they could take on a few patronages.

"For the foreseeable, they will not be paid working royals.

"That does mean that there will be far fewer patronages inventively."
