The Prince of Wales was due to give a reading at St George’s Chapel today before he pulled out of the event

Prince William's future royal duties are not expected to be affected by the personal matter that caused him to pull out of the memorial service today, GB News understands.

The Prince of Wales was due to attend King Constantine's Memorial service but cancelled at the last minute for personal reasons.


Prince William called the Greek royal family to let them know he was unable to attend.

GB News understands that the Princess of Wales is doing well in her recovery from abdominal surgery.

The late King Constantine of Greece, who died in January last year, was the Prince of Wales's godfather.

Queen Camilla led the Royal Family at the Thanksgiving service in the absence of King Charles and the heir to the throne.

Buckingham Palace announced at the start of February that King Charles had been diagnosed with a form of cancer.

Earlier this month, the Prince of Wales returned to royal duties after taking a break from public engagements to care for the Princess of Wales.

Princess Kate underwent abdominal surgery in January and spent two weeks at the London Clinic following the operation.

Despite the absence of Kate, William and the King, many other members of the British Royal Family attended the memorial service today.

King Charles's youngest brother Prince Edward and his wife the Duchess of Edinburgh were not in attendance.

Andrew's ex-wife Sarah Ferguson and his eldest daughter Princess Beatrice joined the Duke of York at St George's Chapel.

Anne's daughter Zara and her husband Mike Tindall were also pictured arriving at the memorial following their recent trip to Iceland.
